Be My Minimalist Valentine: A Nail DIY
February is the month of love. Paper hearts and lace accents abound in every nook and cranny of all office buildings, school classrooms, and private residences. With every passing Valentine's Day, we see more and more pink and red hearts adorning every surface known to man. But what about the gals who are drawn to minimalistic style? I personally am not the person to be decked out in pink and red garb on the 14th. I like to try and think of ways to subtly show my festive spirit on the day of love.
My new nail inspiration for the month of February perfectly blends my desire to celebrate the holiday, while remaining chic and subtle in it's design. This nail DIY is true to it's name; anyone can achieve this look on their own! You do not need to have any major skills or artistic training to complete this nail design. It's extremely simple to execute, but takes your nails to the next level, and will have others asking you whether you got them professionally done.
I'll give you the step-by-step process of how to recreate this nail look, and what products I used! Keep scrolling to see how I created this Valentine's Day inspired design.
Step One: I painted one coat of Essie Base coat on each nail. Using a base coat ensures that the nail color will be applied smoothly and evenly.
Step Two: I painted three coats of pale pink nail polish on each finger. I suggest going for a bright, pastel pink. This color really reminds me of the holiday, and make your nails pop. I used Essie nail polish in the shade 'Minimalistic' (The irony of the name is not lost on me).
Step Three: Take a deep, true red, and saturate the brush in the polish. Once you have a drop of polish on the end of the brush, you simply dot the paint at the base of each nail, hovering slightly above the cuticle. I used Essie nail polish in the shade 'Forever Yummy'.
Step Four: Now, apply a top coat, to seal and add shine to the look. This will also ensure that your polish will last for at least two weeks. I used Essie 'Gel Setter' nail polish to compete my look.
This classic pairing of pink and red fits in with the aesthetic of the holiday, creating a romantic and girly flare to any outfit. I love that this design is clean and simple, and not too flashy. But don't worry, this look's edgy undercurrents will definitely get you noticed. Exude your confidence and your unique style through this look, and be my minimalist valentine (or galentine, if you prefer).
Let me know if you like this nail DIY, and show me if you recreate this look! I would love to see how you make this nail design your own!
