KOURT x Kylie Cosmetics: My Honest Review
Whether you love them, or love to hate them, the KarJenner Clan reign* (wink, wink) supreme in the fashion and beauty industries. Kylie's infamously pillowy pout launched her cosmetics empire into the stratosphere, sending sales through the roof, and has fans everywhere rocking her signature liquid lip kits around Instagram. But, are her products actually worth it? I'm here to add my two sense on her latest launch with her oldest sister Kourtney.
The KOURT x Kylie Cosmetics collaboration has been highly anticipated for a few years now. The only sister she hasn't collaborated with is Kendall; I wonder if that is already in the works?
This collection includes three eyeshadow quads, and three liquid lipsticks. Each palette is inspired by her three children, and has it's own 'theme'. I personally bought the Pink palette, inspired by her daughter Penelope. They are the most wearable, everyday colors out of all three, in my opinion.
The packaging coordinates with the color, and is holographic. I absolutely love the packaging; its bright, fun, and perfect for summer. I opened the quad and was pleasantly surprised to see a good-sized mirror in the palette. It's small enough to fit in your bag, if you need to bring makeup with you on the run.
There are 3 metallic shades, and one matte shade. Upon first sight, the first two shades seem almost identical. But once I saw it in natural light, I saw that each one has a different undertone. The first is an icy pink, while the second is an icy apricot. These colors look stunning in the sunlight!!! I was shocked at how it was subtle and striking, all at once.
Then, i dipped my finger in each pan. These shadows are creamy AF. I have never felt a Kylie Cosmetics eyeshadow, but these feel very high-end and feel like quality shadows. Once I applied each one to my lid, they were so pigmented, and so blendable. You barely have to dip your brush into the shadow in order to pick up pigment; truly a little goes a long way.
The only issue I encountered was with the matte, peach shade. It has a TON of kickback. But that can be common in very pigmented shadows; it usually has to do with the way they are pressed into the pan. They are softly pressed in the pan, in order to allow more pigment to be picked up on the brush, but that leads to fallout.
Really, that's not a big deal to me, because the kickback is limited only to the compact. Once applied to the eyes, it stays locked into place. So in my opinion, having a little extra shadow around the pan is not a big issue, so long as I get that type of blendability and texture.
Okay, the metallics are something else. I didn't have to spray my brush with setting spray or rose water to get the full effect. Once you smooth these shades on your eye, they are bright! So, I can only imagine what it will look like once I do spray it. It will be mind blowing.
Overall, this compact is beautiful, simple, and perfect for travel. I loved the colors, how they applied, and I enjoyed the color story. I also like that these shades are versatile; I used the lightest metallic shade as my highlight. And It. Was. BLINDING! For any ladies out there who are medium to deep skin tones, the apricot/gold metallic shade would be stunning as a highlight. I believe that Kylie has really upped her game in the last year or so in her cosmetics company; the texture, the quality, and overall style of the makeup has greatly improved. I really like the look I created with this palette, and I totally think it's worth the money. These run at $24 a palette, which means that they run about $6 per shadow; that's extremely reasonable!
What do y'all think of the look I created with the Pink palette? What did you think overall about the whole collection? Let me know in the comment section down below! I want to hear your thoughts on this KOURT x Kylie Cosmetics Collection.
