NYFW 2018: Foiled Lips

Fashion month is in full swing, and man do I feel ALIVE.

Models and Instagram mavens alike are currently swarming to the Big Apple, both strutting their stuff on and off the runways. Part of the allure to fashion week is the promise of noteworthy fashion and beauty that is seen during the shows as well as on the streets of the city.

There is no other time like Fashion Week, in any location. It just gets the creative juices flowing once again, promising to inspire and invigorate all who love this industry.

The Jeremy Scott show always promises to dazzle and captivate all who bear witness, but this year? He debuted his fashions on foil-lipped models.

My mind was BLOWN AWAY.

Instantly, I was seized by this sudden urge to recreate this look on myself, and scream from the rooftops my immediate liking to this look.

While this look packs a punch and is very high fashion, I wondered if I could seriously wear this type of look outside the confines of a blog post or fashion enthusiast. And then I was reminded of some makeup artists who have previously created sumptuous glitter lip looks, and how they have shown that the average woman can wear it. (Think Pat McGrath Labs and Violette, for instance.)

You can't look at this rose gold lip and not be instantly taken to a fashion land far, far away. It is extreme, decadent, and a true show-stopper. I decided to recreate it true to the images that floated from the show; keeping the skin clean and bright, bold, brushed-up brows, and let the lips be the crown jewel.

It was surprisingly easy to recreate this look; it only involved 3 products that I already owned. I applied a velvet liquid lip, wanting that semi-wet texture to really pick up the pigment that I wanted to layer on top. Next, I took a pink metallic shadow and patted it on my lips with my finger. Lastly, I tapped on cosmetic glitter, one that has magenta, pink, and copper sparkles.

Et Voilà! The look is done and my confidence is through the roof! I love this look so much, it hurts. I think this would be perfect for Halloween, a night out, or even New Year's Eve. I would probably go for a deep and resonating sanguine lip for those occasions. Make a statement, and wear it with confidence.

I can't wait to see what other beauty and fashion creations will emerge this month. I think it is safe to say that I will be eagerly stalking my phone for new Insta posts on all the newest trends for this coming fall and winter.

Are you living for this look? Or, do you think it should be left on the runway? Comment down below! I would love to hear your thoughts.

It feels good to be back! Love y'all.
